Compassion on Lunar New Year

09 Feb 2018

Kuala Lumpur, 9 February 2018 – In the spirit of Gong Xi Fa Cai, The Budimas Charitable Foundation reached out to approximately 190 orphans and underprivileged children from 3 different charitable homes including their caretakers. The homes were namely; Joy to the World Community Services, Persatuan Kebajikan Rumah Victory Malaysia and Pusat Jagaan Kebajikan Kanak – Kanak Budimas Orion. The joyful event took place at the Pusat Komuniti Bukit Bandaraya, Bangsar to instil the spirit of togetherness and it was gracefully officiated by Mr Steve Teoh, the Board of Trustees of the Budimas Charitable Foundation.

The event kicked off with the customary traditional lion dance, and followed with many interesting activities that were conducted throughout the entire event. The children were delighted with a buffet of Chinese cuisine for dinner which was followed by the “Chinese lantern” making competition. The children from the 3 different homes worked in teams to make the lanterns from scratch within a 30 minutes span. The spirit of teamwork was indeed cultivated through this activity as they battled time and resources to win the contest. Guests and children were also delighted with a “Diabolo” performance by the students of Confucian Private Secondary School Kuala Lumpur who were one of the sponsors for the night.

“At Budimas, the service to serve these children is our top most priority. As we know, poverty robs girls and boys of their future. Children in poverty face many obstacles growing up with the lack of love, support and care so we need to do our part and give back for the betterment of theirs and our future as well. This type of gesture of hosting festive events for them not only gives them a chance to celebrate traditional occasions which prior to this, they probably didn’t get the chance, but they also get to meet new friends from different charitable homes,” said Anne Rajasaikan, principal Officer of The Budimas Charitable Foundation.

The event was made possible by Budimas donors, Ms Sharon from Shavina Events from Andrew from Yites Events and other generous individuals.

The Budimas Charitable Foundation currently supports over 30 charitable homes, built and operating 7 children’s libraries for the Orang Asli Children in the state of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan and Kelantan as well as provides breakfast to children from poor families in over 106 schools across Malaysia.
