Budimas Hosts Christmas Celebration for Underprivileged Children
Children from 5 Charitable Homes were treated to a Christmas Celebration

Kuala Lumpur, 19th December 2017 – On the 15th of December 2017, The Budimas Charitable Foundation organised a Christmas merriment for over 160 orphans and underprivileged children aged from 3 to 18 years old along with their caretakers from 5 charitable homes that took place in Pusat Komuniti Bukit Bandaraya, Bangsar. The homes that attended were Rumah Kanak-Kanak Triniti, Lighthouse Children Welfare Home, Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Chrestus, Stepping Stones Living Centre and Pusat Jagaan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Budimas Orion. The event was officiated by Mr. Roshan Mahendran, Trustee of The Budimas Charitable Foundation.

The evening kicked off with the lighting ceremony of the 8-foor Christmas tree by the Trustees of the foundation where the lights in the event space was first turned off. After that, the children and guest were treated to a wide array of Christmas favourites such as, roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables and fresh fruits.

The carollers from St. Mary Church, Kuala Lumpur then performed Christmas jingles whilst the children from 5 homes compete in a wreath making competition where the winners took home Christmas hampers. The spirit of teamwork could be seen amongst these children as they compete to make the most artistic wreath using their creativity.

“At times, festive season like this is the time where these children are down as they will be reminded of their families. Unfortunately, some of them are not as privileged to travel home or even have parents to celebrate this festival with. We hope that this small gesture helps to liven up their childhood and remind them that society truly cares for them and that we are family too,” said Anne Rajasaikaran, Principal Officer of The Budimas Charitable Foundation.

The Chrfistmas spirit was then amped-up when each child receive their “money packets” from the board Trustees of The Budimas Charitable Foundation as well as goodies bags filled with treats from our generous sponsors. They even received gifts from “Santa Claus” who made his surprise appearance for the children.

“I look forward to this event every year as I get a chance to meet some friends from other homes too. Although I was not able to celebrate Christmas with my family this year due to problems at home, this occasion is the closest thing to it as I get to celebrate with an even bigger family,” said Chong from Pusat Jagaan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Budimas Orion.

The event was made possible by Budimas donors and sponsors; (Loyal Donors, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and Toys R Us).

The Budimas Charitable Foundation currently supports 32 charitable homes across 8 states in Malaysia; Selangor, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak, Johor, Kuantan, Sabah and Sarawak under the Budimas Home Charity Fund (BHCF), building and operating libraries for the children of the Orang Asli Communities via the Budimas Education Charity Fund (BECF) as well as provide breakfast to the less fortunate children in 106 schools across Malaysia.
